A recently published study from Berg Insight predicts that the global use of smart electricity meters will grow at a rate of nearly 27 percent over the next five years, reaching 602.7 million units by 2016.  North America and Europe will experience a 50 percent increase in their smart meter market.  Read Original Content

I have finally completed writing  the Enterprise Mobility Survey 2011 results report, and a complimentary copy is available for you to download here.  There were some very interesting findings in this report.  Here are a few from the survey:


  • 39.8% of companies have a strategic enterprise mobility plan in place.
  • 51.3% have no mobility policy in place.
  • 41.7% believe mobile apps will give them a competitive advantage.
  • 41.6% of survey respondents plan to deploy more than 6 enterprise mobility applications.
  • 78.6% of survey respondents will be integrating with multiple back end systems.
  • 73.7% will be outsourcing some or all of their enterprise mobile application development.

Mobility Charts Weekly - Week of October 24, 2011

The Mobility Charts Weekly is a weekly publication of charts depicting the current and future status of the enterprise mobility market.  I am specifically targeting information that reflects market data and trends.

Pike Research published a report focused on global smart meter growth earlier this year.  According to the report nearly every region will experience significant smart meter growth between 2011 and 2018, growing at an annual rate of 40 percent.  Read Original Content



Forrester Research conducted a study on the future market for tablet devices, comparing them to the future market of laptop and desktop sales.  Their research concludes that desktop sales will continue to decline while overall tablet sales will begin to control a larger share of the computer sales market.  Read Original Content

Mobile Expert Video Series: Vivint's Scott Taylor

I had the privilege of interviewing mobility and field services expert Scott Taylor from Vivint today.   Scott was speaking at the Field Mobility Summit 2011 along with me in Sydney, Australia this week.  Vivint Inc. is a leading provider of home technology services in North America.
