Juniper Research's latest report claims mobile advertising revenues for mobile games will increase tenfold between 2010 and 2015. Juniper estimates that ad-spend in mobile games was $87 million last year, but will rise to $894 million by 2015.

Forty-six percent of iPad users indicate they are more productive and use their iPad daily. In fact, 13 percent of these users say the iPad is mission critical for their job.

RIM recently provided the first hands on demonstration of the PlayBook, a seven inch touchscreen tablet that will go head to head with Apple's iPad when the Wi-Fi only version ships, likely in March.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp. saw its fourth quarter unaudited net profit more than double from a year earlier, driven by strong growth in handset shipments.

With the growing support for mobile devices by SAP StreamWork there are other very interesting use cases existing within hospitals. While Apple ended the year with roughly 300,000 apps in iTunes, the Android Market grew to about 130,000, while Nokia’s Ovi Store got to 25,000 apps and BlackBerry App World reached 18,000.

A month ago ComScore reported that in October 2010, 25 percent of Americans above the age of 13 used smartphones. The latest report shows that share to have risen to 26.3 percent. That means there are 24 percentage points of penetration to go until the majority of Americans are smartphone users.

Android sales accounted for 40.8 percent of U.S. smartphone purchases at the end of November, up from 27.5 percent at midyear--Apple's iOS increased from 20.9 percent in June to 26.9 percent in November, while Research In Motion's BlackBerry plummeted from 35.0 percent to 19.2 percent during the same timeframe.

More businesses are set to turn to mobile business intelligence solutions in 2011 and beyond. Research firm Gartner claims that a strong body of mobile business intelligence users is emerging, and the technology will become increasingly prevalent between now and 2014.
