Kevin's Mobile Retailing News Weekly is an online newsletter that is made up of the most interesting news, articles and links related to mobile retailing applications and mobile marketing applications that I run across each week. I am specifically targeting market size and market trend information.

Google Inc.'s AdMob is on a tear.  The mobile ad network receives more than two billion ad requests daily, marking a fourfold increase from a year ago.

Facebook has acquired mobile ad start-up Rel8tion to improve hyper local ad targeting to its 200 million plus mobile subscribers.  Rel8tion is a nine month old Seattle based start up that connects people to ads based on their location and demographic.

According to a new survey conducted by the Association of National Advertisers, in conjunction with the Mobile Marketing Association, a whopping 88 percent of advertisers plan to be active in mobile in 2011—up from 62 percent last year.

Mobile Advertising company Millennial Media has more evidence of Android's growing strength.  For the first time, Google's platform has surpassed Apple's iOS as the top operating system on Millennial's mobile ad network.  Android nabbed 46 percent of the impression share for December, compared to Apple's 32 percent.

U.S. mobile advertising revenues will grow from $491 million in 2009 to $2.9 billion in 2014, representing a compound annual growth rate of 43 percent, according to researchers at BIA/Kelsey.

Mobile advertising revenue in Malaysia shot up by 218 percent during the fourth quarter compared to the same period in 2009, according to BuzzCity’s latest Global Mobile Advertising Index, bringing overall growth in that medium up by 103 percent for 2010.

According to the findings of a recent survey from the Association of National Advertisers and the Mobile Marketing Association, 88 percent of marketers at large retailers and consumer brand manufacturers will tap mobile marketing in some fashion for ad campaigns this year.

A report released by the mobile ad network, Millenial Media, shows that mobile advertising in the United States is growing most rapidly in the financial services industry. Mobile advertising for finance companies has grown 802 percent year on year.

Last November Facebook announced that it had 200 million users accessing the site via mobile devices, giving the company a huge base to target for advertising in the future - potentially one of the biggest collective, cross border mobile communities in the whole of the industry.

According to a new International Data Corporation forecast, the market for mobile applications will continue to accelerate as the number of downloaded apps is expected to increase from 10.9 billion worldwide in 2010 to 76.9 billion in 2014.  Worldwide mobile apps revenues will experience similar growth, surpassing $35 billion in 2014.

According to the latest m-commerce benchmark study by eDigitalResearch, Marks and Spencer is the leading firm in m-commerce.  

The study showed that Marks and Spencer has the best overall mobile website.

Ads on Facebook cost more but got fewer click throughs in 2010 compared to 2009, and performed about half as well as traditional banner ads, according to a new survey. According to Webtrends, the average click through rate for Facebook ads in 2009 was 0.063 percent and 0.051 percent in 2010 — half as much as the industry standard of .1 percent.

A new report from Forrester Research says mobile marketing investments will surpass $1 billion this year as marketers begin to see returns on their investments from consumers buying more via mobile.
