Apple and Taiwanese phonemaker HTC have settled all their outstanding disputes over patents, ending a fight that began in March 2010.  The two firms also signed a 10-year license agreement that will extend to current and future patents held by one another.  Read Original Content

Nokia accounted for 7.2 million, or 4.3 percent, of the 169.2 million smartphones sold worldwide in the latest quarter, taking the company down from third place in the prior three-month period, research firm Gartner Inc. said.  Read Original Content

The HTC Droid DNA smartphone sports a large 5-inch Super LCD 3-HD display that is sharper in resolution than the iPhone 5’s screen. According to the reports of Strategy Analytics, Samsung has sold 18 million units of Galaxy S3 for the last quarter whereas Apple has sold 16.2 million iPhone 4S and 6 million iPhone 5 in the same quarter.  Read Original Content

Sony's aggressive product launches and marketing campaign seems to have paid off as its sales jumped 44 percent compared to last year making it the third largest smartphone vendor in the world. Sony has shipped 8.8 million handsets in the last three months.  Read Original Content

Asian smartphone vendors dominated the global share of smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2012, as Japan's Sony and Taiwan's HTC take third and fourth place, ahead of RIM and Nokia, according to a new report from Canalys.  Read Original Content

Phones running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 make their retail debuts Friday, with AT&T and Verizon offering models running the new system to their users. Sprint Nextel will launch LTE smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 next year. Sprint joins fellow operators AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA in showing support for Microsoft's operating system.  Read Original Content

The U.S. mobile data market grew 3 percent Q/Q and 17 percent Y/Y to reach $19.9 billion in Q3 2012. Data is now almost 43 percent of the U.S. mobile industry service revenues. For the year 2012, the market is on track for mobile data revenues in the U.S. market to reach an estimated $80 billion, according to Chetan Sharma.  Read Original Content
