The Samaritans charity has launched a new app, which will notify Twitter users if people they follow on the site appear to be suicidal.  Samaritans Radar uses an algorithm to identify key words and phrases, which indicate distress.  They include "tired of being alone", "hate myself", "depressed", "help me" and "need someone to talk to."  Read Original Content

Google is aiming to diagnose cancers, impending heart attacks or strokes and other diseases at a much earlier stage than is currently possible.  The company is working on technology that combines disease-detecting nanoparticles, which would enter a patient's bloodstream via a swallowed pill, with a wrist-worn sensor.  Read Original Content

A survey of doctors and patients at Hannover Medical School reveals a good majority of doctors, 81.6 percent, own mobile devices and more male physicians, 45.2 percent, use mHealth tech than female physicians, 25 percent.  Read Original Content

Dexcom Inc. has received regulatory approval for a new tool that will enable partial remote blood-sugar monitoring for people with diabetes. Dexcom’s glucose monitor measures blood sugar every five minutes and those readings can be transmitted to apps on smartphones.  Read Original Content

A new study from Pennsylvania hospital system Geisinger Health Plan shows remote monitoring of congestive heart failure patients can reduce readmissions by 38 to 44 percent and produce a return on investment of $3.30 on the dollar.  Read Original Content
