Asian markets have become very attractive in terms of mobile commerce due to the rising adoption of smartphones and tablets. Chinese upstart Xiaomi has taken the Chinese smartphone market by storm. The company was founded just three years ago, but has risen to grab five percent of the growing market. Taiwanese electronics giant HTC Corp is showing its excitement for Myanmar’s fledgling telecom market by launching new phones and reminding everyone its CEO was born in the Southeast Asian nation. The frontier market would be valuable for the company as HTC's global market share has been falling fast this year due to competition from Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. According to a survey released by SAP 37 percent of Asia-Pacific respondents were more likely to use their mobile device to conduct banking activities, compared to the global average of 29 percent. Another 37 percent would purchase goods and services via mobile, higher than the global average of 26 percent, where the most common items bought were clothes, and books or e-books.  Read Original Content

Developed countries in the Asia Pacific region have high smartphone penetration: Hong Kong and Singapore clock in at 87 percent, followed by Malaysia (80 percent) and Australia (75 percent). While tagged as part of the emerging market, China also boasts 71 percent of smartphone adoption.  Read Original Content

Digitimes has said China Mobile will procure about 40 million TD-LTE devices in 2014. The number comes as China is expected to issue 4G licenses before the end of this year.  Read Original Content
